We help those who are struggling to provide the basic needs for themselves and/or their families through the support of the Department of State Community Service Block Grant (CSBG). We also educate through our Head Start & Early Head Start Programs and provide energy conservation through our Weatherization & EmPower Programs to those who qualify. We do more than just offer one-time assistance. We connect with families over an extended period of time – working to offer educational and goal-setting opportunities to help individuals and families achieve major life changes.
Ulster County Community Action Committee, Inc (UCCAC) is not alone in our work and is currently one of nearly 1100 Community Action Agencies across the United States and one of 52 in New York State. Each Community Action Agency is a grassroots organization designed to meet the ever-changing needs of the local population. We mobilize resources and devise solutions that unlock opportunities for millions of low-income families.
We are also pleased to announce that effective October 1, 2018, UCCAC has been assigned Sullivan County to provide CSBG initiatives by the NYS Department of State (NYS DOS). Currently, we are setting up an office in Monticello, NY at 309 E Broadway at the Action Towards Independence (ATI) office. Beginning Monday, October 29th, Brian Mead will join UCCAC as an Assistant Program Director of our Sullivan Office. An additional office open one day per month has begun in Liberty, NY at the United Methodist Church.
