Virginia Butler

Teacher Aide

My name is Virginia Butler (Ginny). I’m a Teacher Aide. I have been a Teacher Aide at the Children’s Learning Center for going on 13 years. Before that, I worked 7 years at a home daycare. From high school till my kids were born, I worked with handicapped children, then raised my own two kids.  When I see a child when I’m out doing something and, even after years, they run up to me and give me a hug,  I know I have made an impact on that child. When I go home, I love to read and draw.

Family Worker

Hello, my name is Estee and I’m a Family Worker at Saugerties Head Start.  I’m delighted to introduce myself .  I received my bachelor’s in education from Suny New Paltz and have over 23 years of experience working in the Human Services field with children and adults with ASD ( Autism Spectrum Disorder)  as a Special Education Teacher, Residential Manager, Adult Services Coordinator and International Program Coordinator. As a Family Worker I have the pleasure to work with families, like yourself.  I partner together with families to identify needs, assist parents/caregivers with developing healthy self- concepts of themselves and assisting families in utilizing fully all available community resources while providing guidance and support along the way .

When I’m not working you may find me at the theater watching a movie or reading a book at a local coffee shop.   Life is a gift, and I don’t take it for granted,  I’m thankful for today!

Site Director/Teacher

My name is Martha Manzo and I am the Site Supervisor/ Teacher for the Saugerties Head Start program. I have a bachelor’s degree in human development with an Early Childhood Education concentration and have worked with children from B-5 for the past 29 years in a variety of roles and settings. I have worked in the classroom as a teacher, in Early Intervention programs as a Developmental Educator, and in camp settings as a counselor.

Before beginning my current position, I was a Master Teacher for almost 19 years in an Early Childhood program in Santa Barbara, CA where I developed curriculum, helped to design and manage both indoor and outdoor classroom environments, supervised/mentored assistant teachers and aides, and served on a leadership team that explored many important topics in the field. I believe in my current position I can be part of an amazing team to provide children with a nurturing, child-initiated, play-based environment that helps to foster self-confidence, trust, autonomy, and acceptance of individual differences. I can help develop each child’s strengths, interests, skills, abilities, and knowledge to help extend their learning. In my free time I enjoy cooking, hiking, swimming, and being with family and friends, one thing that I love about living in this area is all the opportunities for being in nature. Thank you
